GEMS parents and grown-ups,

Thank you for allowing your girl to be part of GEMS!  We are excited to begin a new season.

This year, our season theme is Walk on Water: Stepping out to Trust our Faithful God.

“Know therefore that Lord your God is God He is the faithful God keeping His covenant of Love To a thousand generations of those you love Him and keep His commandments.” Deuteronomy 7:9

Through WALK ON WATER, girls will be:

  • Encouraged to trust God – the One who always has been and always will be with them
  • Equipped to grasp God’s faithfulness through the biblical storyline
  • Empowered to develop a living, dynamic relationship with Jesus through prayer, worship, and Bible Study
  • Emboldened to confidently step out in faith to share the gospel and their testimonies with others
  • Invited to engage and activate their faith through WALK ON WATER service project

At each regular meeting the girls will “make a PLAN” to use what they have learned to serve others. This plan will go home with them. Please encourage your GEMS girls to complete their PLAN. If they bring the plan back to GEMS the next meeting with a parent’s signature, they will receive tickets. At the end of the season, the girls will be able to use their tickets to purchase items. 

GEMS will consist of 2 groups

  • 3rd -5th grades. Their councilors are Marcia Geurink & Michell Jaarsma.
  • 6th – 8th graders councilors or Carmen Schreiber and Susie Otterbein.

I will assign one girl for each group to bring snacks. As of now there are about 12 girls in each group. Drinks will be provided. A snack schedule will be going home with the girls and emailed to you. 

Everyone will receive a Badge book. This book will stay at church unless parents request it be brought home. These books are costly, so we don’t want to lose them. BUT it is fun to work on badges during breaks.
